2024 was a productive year for book reviews. I reviewed twenty percent of the sixty-three American Revolutionary Era books published this year. The Researching the American Revolution website published eight of the thirteen book reviews, and the Journal of the American Revolution published five. Trade press books accounted for nine, with the academic press publishing four. Westholme Publishing had the most books reviewed, with three.
The book reviews reflect the objectivity and interests of an independent historian. I selected most of the books reviewed based upon my research and reading interests with publishers asking me to review one third of the reviews. Several book review requests were turned down due to weak scholarship. An unsolicited review was for a book by Sunbury Press, the publisher of my 2022 book. I received no compensation for my reviews other than, in some cases, a free book.
The books reviewed are listed below, with online links to the reviews.

How did you have time to do anything other than read Revolutionary War books! You had a busy year. You should be in the running for the title of Premier Revolutionary War Scholar if you keep up this pace.
It sounds like Mad River had some good skiing before the rain came. Kate and I are headed to Vancouver Island next Monday (1/6), to see grandkids and ski Mt. Washington. They had the deepest base so far in North America, but rain is always a danger. At lease we’ll have the kids and grandkids to fall back on .
Good luck to Michigan today. Happy 2025.
